The essentials

Blazer: Target | Tank: old (VERY similar and only $10!) | Pants: Free People (similar) | Flats: Target | Clutch: Salt & Pepper Boutique (similar)

When I made the career switch to education (best decision ever, btw), I found myself without proper attire. I had always worked in retail where you could pretty much wear what you wanted as long as it was appropriate and represented the store well. My closet was full of basics and things I could easily mix and match with but I was missing the essentials: blazers and slacks. It has definitely been a process accumulating an “educator’s wardrobe” but I think I’ve finally got the hang of it. I wore this outfit to school this past week. You can view another school outfit here. I figured there are some future teachers out there who will find themselves in the same predicament I found myself in. My one tip? You can never, NEVER, have too many blazers and these Old Navy pixie pants.

My favorite thing about outfits like these is their ability to transition from school to dinner. The only thing I changed was my bag. To answer the question you’re thinking, yes. I am obsessed with this initial clutch. Even when I’m not using it by itself, I keep it in my purse as a makeup bag/pen bag. Oh, don’t even get me started on my pen obsession. We’ll have to save that for another post.

Even if you aren’t a teacher, what are your work must-haves?
